Fishing groups and local politicians criticized  the Massachusetts Executive Office of Environmental Affairs’ certification of Excelerate Energy’s draft environmental impact report for the offshore Northeast Gateway LNG facility, saying the decision dismisses the project’s impact on local fisheries.  The certified draft report concludes that if the terminal is built and operational for 25 years, commercial fishermen would lose $2.4 million in revenue and six jobs during that time.  Jackie Odell, a spokesman for the Northeast Seafood Coalition, argued that the location of the facility is near prime spawning grounds.  “We don’t think the groundfish industry should have to carry the proposed energy needs on their backs,” Odell said.  See the complete story in the Boston Globe.
