The Free National Movement, the former ruling party of the Bahamas, alleges that Attorney General Allyson Maynard-Gibson improperly advanced the interests of her former law firm and AES, a client of the firm, with regard to AES’ proposed LNG terminal. According to commentary posted on FNM’s website, the law firm of Gibson and Company will have earned $1 million if AES’ heads of agreement for the construction of an LNG terminal “is successfully concluded and signed.” In a statement reported by The Nassau Guardian, Maynard-Gibson defended her role in the review of the project and stated that she no longer has an “interest” in her former firm.
