According to London-based analyst Mostefa Ouki, the strategic objectives of LNG-producing countries will have a stronger impact on the long-term development of the U.S. LNG industry than any short-term fluctuations in U.S. natural gas prices. Ouki commented on the necessary balance between U.S. gas prices that may be too low to make importing LNG economical and sustained high gas prices that may prompt consumers to seek cheaper energy alternatives such as coal or nuclear energy.
