Natural Gas Week last week reported that LNG traders are delaying cargo deliveries and turning to the spot market to take advantage of higher prices this winter. Royal Dutch Shell is holding a cargo off Finland, originally destined for India, now scheduled to be delivered to France’s Montoir terminal in November. U.S. Excelerate has five cargos at sea, two sitting in the Gulf of Mexico. Meanwhile, the Cove Point LNG terminal in Maryland competed in the global market with a netback of $6.53/MMBtu for Trinidad supply, while Lake Charles yielded only $5.51, compared to Spain’s $9.02 netback.
