The Ventura County Air Pollution Control Board has unanimously voted that BHP Billiton’s Cabrillo Port LNG terminal, proposed for offshore California, should adhere to the same air quality standards established for onshore facilities. “What is good for the emitters on land is also good for the emitters at sea,” said County Supervisor John Flynn. Critics of the project have objected to the EPA’s decision to exempt the terminal from the more stringent emissions standards for onshore facilities. Proponents of the terminal protested the county panel’s ruling, calling it a delay tactic. The Ventura County Star has the story. [Free registration necessary.]
