The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency has released its study on the proposed Gros Cacouna Energy LNG terminal, according to a press statement issued yesterday. The panel determined that the terminal would help meet anticipated natural gas demand in Quebec, Ontario, and the U.S. Northeast, but added that “it would only marginally increase the security of Quebec’s supply, primarily in the event of a major break in the pipeline system transporting gas from the west, since the North American natural gas market is integrated.”
