Sutherland will sponsor and host a legal workshop at the World Shale Gas Conference and Exhibition on November 3-5 at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Dallas. This premier event will spotlight the global shale gas supply and its potential as a valuable energy commodity, and it will bring together global energy stakeholders for robust discussions on the financial, commercial and regulatory aspects of shale production worldwide.
To kick off the program on November 2, Sutherland will lead a Master Class titled, "Shale Gas Legal and Regulatory Issues." This interactive workshop will address the legal and regulatory challenges confronting upstream, midstream and downstream development and delivery to market of shale gas resources in the U.S. In particular, industry experts will discuss current issues such as tax considerations, environmental issues, the need for additional midstream assets, market access pipelines, gas quality, and energy and climate policy.
During the conference, Sutherland will lead a discussion entitled "Regulators and Government Panel: Working With the Industry to Unleash the Potential of Shale Gas." This session will address the regulatory frameworks that have worked and stimulated shale development in the U.S., balancing the need for security of supply with sound regulatory frameworks, what shale gas development will mean for governments, and land ownership and licensing issues in the U.S. and Europe.
David Wochner will moderate one of the interactive Networking Round Table Discussions in the Global Shale Gas Meeting Place, providing a unique opportunity for leading shale gas players and potential market entrants to meet and discuss the challenges and opportunities presented by this energy game changer. Discussion topics will include what the shale gas revolution will mean for global gas pricing, how costs can be driven down to fully maximize the potential of shale gas, environmental concerns, and what shale gas means for the U.S. and global LNG projects.
