March 5, 2012

Council on State Taxation (COST)

Two Sutherland attorneys are speaking at the COST 2012 Sales Tax Conference and Audit Session, March 6, 2012 in Austin, Texas.

Counsel Diann L. Smith’s presentation, titled "Abandoned & Unclaimed Property – Including a Special Report on the Latest A&UP Legislation, Audit Defenses and Litigation Matters," encourages attendees to be proactive in their holder responsibilities. The panel plans to discuss continued efforts by some states to use abandoned property as a source of revenue and related topics such as states shortening dormancy periods, hiring contingent fee auditors, and audit defense techniques.
