PPAs in a Nodal Market

September 23, 2010 - September 24, 2010

9th Annual Gas and Power Institute

Sutherland Partner Thomas H. Warren is speaking at the 9th Annual Gas and Power Institute at the Hyatt Regency in Houston, Texas, September 23-24 2010. Thomas will present "PPAs in a Nodal Market." This session will examine issues with power purchases and sales arising from the transition to a Nodal market, including managing issues under existing PPAs as well as structuring new PPAs. The discussion includes a review of the relevant experiences of other markets transitioning to Nodal and how they may apply to ERCOT, including "Seller’s Choice" issues, pricing mechanisms, force majeure and change in law clauses.

The Institute features topics relevant to the gas and power industry in light of the current economic climate. Attendees will learn about enforcement, environmental initiatives, recent state and federal legislative actions and about financing energy transactions.
