Sutherland lawyers Jacob Dweck and Steven Sparling spoke at the Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers, May 11-13 in Newport, Rhode Island. The Governors and Premiers discussed issues such as energy efficiency, renewable energy, alternative transportation, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and fuel supplies.
The Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers is an organization of the six New England (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont) Governors and five Eastern Canadian (New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Labrador, Nova Scotia, Price Edward Island and Quebec) Premiers. Since the early 1970s, the Governors and Premiers have met 29 times to discuss regional issues and take action in a number of policy areas, including the environment, energy, economic development, trade, security and most recently oceans issues.
Jacob Dweck, a Sutherland Partner and Founder and Principal of the LNG Solutions Group, moderated a panel discussing governmental frameworks and key challenges to addressing energy issues. Steven Sparling participated on a panel discussing the public perceptions and political realities of energy safety and security.
