Sutherland Receives Gold Standard Certification from Women in Law Empowerment Forum for Fourth Consecutive Year

June 23, 2015

ATLANTA and WASHINGTON—Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP is pleased to announce that the firm was awarded the Gold Standard Certification for the fourth consecutive year by the Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF). Only 44 law firms received the Gold Standard Certification this year.

“We put a great emphasis on building an inclusive work environment through diverse backgrounds, unique experience and varying viewpoints,” said Partner and Sutherland’s Chief Diversity Officer James L. Henderson III. “In turn, this attracts and retains the highest caliber of attorneys and provides our clients with the best solutions. It is rewarding to see our efforts acknowledged by WILEF.”

WILEF is a national organization that helps women in law achieve their goals and supports retention. This year, law firms with 300 or more lawyers were eligible for certification based on six different evaluation criteria. Last year, the cutoff was 200 lawyers.

In order to achieve Gold Standard Certification, firms must demonstrate that women represent a meaningful percentage of their equity partners, of their highest leadership positions, of their governance and compensation committees, and of their most highly compensated partners. Sutherland was one of only eight law firms to meet all six criteria.

“We are honored to be recognized for our achievements again by WILEF, said Cynthia M. Krus, partner and member of Sutherland’s Executive Committee. “This recognition acknowledges Sutherland’s steadfast dedication to advancing diversity in our leadership positions and at the highest ranks of our firm.”
