ATLANTA—Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP is pleased to announce that Elizabeth Ann Lester, an associate in the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group, has been recognized with the 2014 Georgia State University Intellectual Property Community Service Award. She will accept her award at a luncheon on October 21 in Georgia State University’s State Ballroom.
The award is given annually to recognize intellectual property professionals for their service and significant contributions to the community. Ms. Lester received her J.D., cum laude, from the Georgia State University College of Law and is an executive board member of the Georgia State University Intellectual Property Advisory Board. She also volunteers for the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation.
“Elizabeth is well-deserving of this honor and has devoted herself to community service while maintaining a thriving practice,” said Sutherland IP Practice Group Leader Daniel J. Warren. “Her work demonstrates Sutherland’s commitment to give back to the community.”
Ms. Lester manages domestic and international patent prosecution for chemical and biomedical technology industry clients. She is particularly experienced in the areas of polymer materials and packaging; consumer products; and medical devices, such as drug delivery systems, surgical tools and biosensors. Ms. Lester’s practice also involves intellectual property counseling related to the preparation and negotiation of license and supply agreements, due diligence, negotiation of intellectual property collaborations and acquisitions, preparation of patentability and freedom-to-operate opinions, litigation support and overall patent portfolio management. For one client, she oversaw the filing and prosecution of more than 500 related consumer product patent applications internationally.
