WASHINGTON – Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP is pleased to announce that Partner Cynthia M. Krus was named Citizen of the Year by the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, DC, along with her husband, George Corey.
“Cynthia’s recognition by the Metropolitan Police Department is reflective of her outstanding commitment to our community,” said Richard G. Murphy, Jr., Partner in Charge of the firm’s Washington, DC office. “We are very proud of Cynthia and are especially proud of her dedication to non-profit organizations in Washington.”
The Metropolitan Police Department Annual Awards honors police officers, civil employees and residents who have excelled in making city neighborhoods safer and more livable. Krus is a long-time supporter of the Chevy Chase Citizens Association and the non-profit Bread for the City, where she serves as secretary on the Board of Directors. She encourages the residents to become proactive in the prevention of crime by partnering with their PSA officers.
Ms. Krus is a corporate and securities attorney with more than 20 years counseling clients on matters such as corporate governance, crisis management, whistleblower response, disclosure, executive compensation and shareholder matters. She works extensively with companies and alternative investment funds on their quest to grow their business, and she develops strategic plans and timing for critical decisions in all aspects of their businesses, including mergers and acquisitions; proxy contests; going-private transactions; reorganizations; debt, equity and rights offerings; and other securities and capital markets transactions.
