Another Sutherland Partner Named Fellow of Litigation Counsel of America

November 5, 2015
WASHINGTON—Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP is pleased to announce that Partner Brian L. Rubin has been named a Fellow with the Litigation Counsel of America (LCA), a trial lawyer honorary society that represents less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers. Mr. Rubin is the fourth Sutherland attorney to be named a Fellow in the LCA. He joins Partners Allegra J. Lawrence-Hardy, Amelia Toy Rudolph and Steuart H. Thomsen.
“Brian has long been considered a leading figure among the securities bar, both while in public service and now at Sutherland,” said Sutherland Managing Partner Mark D. Wasserman. “This honor cements his stature. We are pleased that the LCA has recognized him for his commitment and contributions, and congratulate him on joining his partners Allegra, Amy and Steuart in this elite group.”
The LCA is composed of nationally known litigation and trial lawyers. Admission is by invitation-only and is based on an individual’s excellent experience and outstanding accomplishments, both at the trial and appellate levels, along with an honorable ethical reputation.
At Sutherland, Mr. Rubin is the Washington DC office leader of Sutherland’s Litigation group and the Administrative Partner in Charge of the Securities Enforcement and Litigation team. With more than 20 years of experience in federal securities law, first prosecuting and now defending, he represents clients being examined, investigated and prosecuted by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), other self-regulatory organizations and states.
As former NASD (now FINRA) Deputy Chief Counsel of Enforcement and Senior Enforcement Counsel at the SEC, Mr. Rubin brings an insider’s perspective to defending broker-dealers, investment advisers, investment companies, public companies and individuals in examinations, investigations, enforcement proceedings, litigation, arbitrations and in counseling. He regularly litigates against regulators and claimants, counsels clients on regulatory and compliance matters, and conducts internal investigations.  Additionally, he has repeatedly been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America in the areas of securities law, litigation – securities and securities regulation, and selected for inclusion in Washington DC Super Lawyers in the area of securities litigation.
